The role of birthworkers in Australia from the perspective of birthworkers and women
This study explores the experiences of women who have given birth at home with a birthworker and the experiences of birthworkers who have supported women to give birth at home. The purpose of this study is to better understand the type of support and Image of expectant mothercare women seek and have experienced from a birthworker during a birth at home. It is anticipated that this data will inform childbirth service provision for women in Australia and help identify the gaps in current care and provide guidance about unintended consequences of recent regulation.
If you have experienced a planned homebirth with a birthworker (not a registered midwife) when no midwife was present or are a birthworker (not a registered midwife) who has attended women in a planned homebirth and no midwife was present in the past five to ten years, we would like to invite you to participate in this study.
